PRACTICE PROFILE

Christine York is Alexander Holburn’s Director of Associates and Students. In this capacity, she oversees the firm’s recruitment of associates and articled students. Christine is also responsible for developing and orchestrating the professional development, training, and mentorship programs for associates, students, and paralegals.

Christine joined the firm as a summer student in 1994. After she completed a one year Clerkship at the British Columbia Supreme Court, she rejoined the firm as an articled student and then an associate. Christine became a partner in 2004.

The majority of Christine’s legal career has been in the practice of litigation, particularly in the defence of professionals. She has also represented clients in general insurance defence and personal injury matters. In the last three years, Christine has wound down her litigation practice to fully commit her time to work with Alexander Holburn’s associates, students and paralegals, with the goal of providing them with the support and guidance necessary to develop their legal careers.

REPRESENTATIVE CASES

  • Grey Mortgage Investment Corp. v. Campbell and Pound Ltd., 2002;
  • Forest & Marine Financial Limited Partnership v. Triple C. Logging Co., 2002.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Christine’s second job is that of a proud and busy wife and mother of two young boys. In her pre-child life, Christine was an avid “foodie”, golfer, and music lover. Now, Christine is introducing both mini-golf and alternative music to her children; they, in turn, are introducing her to the fun to be had at Science World and White Spot.
