PRACTICE PROFILE

David McKnight is a member of the firm’s Insurance, Commercial Litigation, Defamation and Privacy, Local Government and Administrative Law Practices. His practice is primarily focused in the areas of commercial and civil litigation and includes construction litigation, banking litigation, municipal, administrative, property damage and defamation. He has extensive experience in both the British Columbia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and works closely with clients to resolve actions through trial, mediation and the settlement process. David has extensive experience on E & O issues defending such professionals as real estate agents, architects, engineers, building inspectors, financial planners and mortgage brokers.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

• Successfully defended a financial institution in trust estate action (Gratsos v. TD Canada Trust et al)
• Successfully defended financial planners and mortgage brokers in E & O matters (Hill v. TD Bank; Roman v. TD Bank)
• Successfully represented a financial institution in the recovery of mortgage funds in the mortgage fraud and insolvency matter of Martin Wirick.
• Successfully defended the BC Federation of Foster Parents Association in a trial on the issue of internet defamation (Carter v. B.C. Federation of Foster Parents Association).
• Successfully defended the Northern Interior Regional Health Board defamation and negligence action (P.G. Restaurant Ltd. v. Northern Interior Regional Health Board et al).
• Successfully defended the City of Richmond on a building inspection/construction action (Parsons v. City of Richmond).
