PRACTICE PROFILE

Stuart Lang is a senior partner of Alexander Holburn Beaudin & Lang LLP. Stuart is Chair of the firm’s Health Practice and a member of the Corporate/Commercial Practice.

Stuart is a commercial lawyer who provides advice to health authorities and other public and private sector clients.

Stuart is recognized for his broad health care expertise and has provided guidance and advice to provincial, regional and First Nations health authorities as well as institutes supporting health care research and the creation of additional research capacity within the province.

Stuart has negotiated, drafted and implemented a wide spectrum of commercial contracts, business structures and agreements in health care including outsourcing, procurement, establishment of shared services organizations for health authorities, requests for proposals and contracts with suppliers, acquisition of medical equipment and software programs, partnerships between health authorities, software licence agreements, creation of patent and intellectual property policies, clinical research and research collaboration agreements, clinical trial contracts, construction of hospital and research facilities, advising on amalgamations, alliances and affiliations with hospitals, health authorities, universities, research institutes and foundations, and health authority governance.

In addition to his health practice, Stuart advises private sector cleitns on business transactions, business and property acquisitions, commercial negotiations and agreements and assists clients with their business objectives.

Stuart articled to Mr. Earnest A. Alexander, Q.C. in 1967 and has practiced with Alexander Holburn Beaudin & Lang LLP since his call to the Bar.

  • Past Director and Vice-President of the British Columbia Cancer Foundation;
  • Past Chair, Professional Division, of the $30 Million British Columbia’s Children’s Hospital Capital Campaign which funded the construction of the Ambulatory Care Centre;
  • Past Director, Winterthur Canada Financial Corporation, Citadel Assurance Company; Axa Pacific Insurance (Canada); Anglo Canadan General Insurance Company; Crofton House School.
