PRACTICE PROFILE
Todd’s practice is focused insurance related litigation. He has a particular interest and expertise in handling product liability, sports & recreation and professional indemnity claims. He also regularly provides coverage opinions and handles subrogated matters for insurers. Todd’s clients include a number of North American insurance companies, Lloyd’s syndicates and self-insured corporations.
Todd is the past President of The ARC Group Canada, a network of independent law firms across Canada focusing on the areas of insurance law and risk management. Alexander Holburn is the B.C. member of this affiliation.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
- Acts as counsel in British Columbia to one of Canada’s largest retail corporations, handling its occupier’s liability and property damage litigation.
- Provides ongoing errors and omissions advice to a leading North American insurance brokerage.
- Handled a number of class action proceedings in British Columbia, including several class actions involving national and bi-national issues, the most recent being the negotiation and implementation of a U.S. $300 million product liability settlement covering Canada and the United States
- Advises excess insurers and rental car companies on various issues arising out of the coverage for and defence of motor vehicle cases exceeding British Columbia’s mandatory $200,000 liability coverage.
