At Alexander Holburn Beaudin & Lang LLP, we are setting the standards for law firm continuing education with Ascend™, our internal training program.
Ascend™ includes training in the law and aspects of legal practice, marketing, technology, and office and personal skills. Our mandate is to promote excellence and opportunity through the constant growth of our people. Whether it’s learning how to excel in client service, how to better prepare for a trial or how to improve our time management skills, we know that more capable lawyers and staff experience increased levels of self-satisfaction and organizational loyalty, which in turn leads directly to higher client satisfaction.
Ascend™ is a confirmation of our commitment to our people. At the same time, it makes perfect business sense.
Ascend™ has over 100 training opportunities for our partners, associates, students, and staff on an annual basis. We strongly encourage course attendance by our lawyers and staff, regularly obtain feedback on our programs to keep them relevant and interesting, and seek suggestions on new programs from those wishing to pursue new skills.
Trainers include outside experts and “seasoned veterans" from within our firm. Most programs are held over breakfast or lunch to minimize disruption to the regular work day.
Our goal is to create an environment of constant learning and progression so that our people are highly marketable in the business community, but prefer to stay here where they are most intellectually nurtured. It is a unique and ambitious goal for a law firm in Canada, and one fully embraced by the firm’s leadership.
