Summer Student Program

We seek to fill at least four summer positions each year.  These positions are available for second year law students.  We guarantee articles at our firm for all of our summer students.

Our summer students are paid on the basis of an annual salary of $50,000 ($4,167 per month).  On completion of their summer articles, students who commit to returning to the firm for their articling year are provided with a $5,000 contribution toward their third year tuition and receive a $500 book allowance.

Our summer students work an average of 50 hours per week.  While summer students are not placed in a rotational program like our articled students, they tend to do similar work which may include research; drafting pleadings, agreements and other documents; attending chambers, trials, hearings, examinations for discovery and meetings; interviewing witnesses; reviewing documents; and preparing seminar papers and other presentations on various legal issues.  More information on these areas of work is available in our Articling Program section.

We have one librarian, a library technician, and a research lawyer available to assist our students in research assignments and other work.  Students are provided with their own offices, use of a computer with access to the Internet and several legal databases, legal secretarial and word processing support, and office services support.
