Charlie joined Alexander Holburn as a summer articled student in 2019, before returning to the firm in 2020 as an articled student after completing his J.D. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia.
His focus lies in corporate commercial, business, real estate, and intellectual property law.
As a technology enthusiast and serial entrepreneur, Charlie is the founder of several local startups including: UNIVRS Inc., the first Virtual-Reality Lounge in Metro Vancouver, and VIRL Inc., an e-commerce platform for computer hardware and consumer electronics. Charlie was recognized as a Finalist in the Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards (Vancouver) for being the top full-time post-secondary student running a business.
During his studies, Charlie served as the Director of Finance for the Allard Law Students Society and the Richmond Clinic Head of the Law Students Legal Advice Program. He also represented the Allard School of Law in two competitive moots.
Before joining the firm, Charlie finished a legal internship with Electronic Arts Canada, and completed a seminal capstone course assisting in the evaluation of a public M&A deal with Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. He also co-authored “Fuelling High-Tech Startups – Building the Capacity of MSMES Through Technology and Innovation,” a comparative research study of young entrepreneurs in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and APEC.
