Karen R. Zimmer, Partner, was recently featured in the RIMS Canada Newsletter for her article titled: “The Interplay Between British Columbia’s Statutory Tort of Privacy and the Tort of Defamation”. The article discusses how defamation law and breach of privacy law are both separate and distinct, though the two torts are occasionally brought before the courts in the same matter. However, Karen notes that understanding the differences between these two torts and the legal principles that inform them, is paramount in dealing with an action in this area of law.
