At Alexander Holburn, we value the professional and personal growth of our lawyers and clients. We are especially conscious of the need to provide mentoring and support opportunities to our female lawyers and clients.

This ethos inspired us to set up the Alexander Holburn Women’s Forum. Our goal is a simple one, but one we believe is very important: to facilitate our female lawyers’ and clients’ support and business development network through enjoyable social activities and information sharing. It’s a progressive and innovative program amongst British Columbia and Ontario law firms and has experienced exponential success.

Memorable Events

By hosting unique events with engaging, relevant programs, our female clients and lawyers can explore the various networking, mentoring and business development opportunities. These opportunities have led to lasting, meaningful relationships both inside and outside the firm.

CRYSTAL BOWL RECEPTION

For over 20 years it has been Alexander Holburn tradition that our female lawyers, students, and managers gather to connect and celebrate the success of our newest female partners. While the pandemic required that we put this event on hold for the last few years, we were pleased to restart tradition in June 2023. We hosted our crystal bowl event in the home of our first female partner and as part of this tradition, each newly appointed female partner received a “crystal bowl” to commemorate this important milestone in their career. The celebration continued with a cocktail reception filled with laughs, memories and socializing.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

In recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023, our Women’s Forum held many exciting initiatives throughout the week to celebrate the women in our lives. Our staff enjoyed a Women’s Day brunch and champagne toast, daily book draws with messages about female empowerment, an opportunity to attend a CCDI webinar on “International Women’s Day: Feminism is for Everyone” and a 50/50 draw with half the proceeds going to one of our three sponsored charities of the winners choice. Learn more about our initiatives here.

In 2022, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver to support building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty with a virtual 50/50 raffle fundraiser and took part in their 2022 Women’s Build. We also hosted an internal event to recognize the achievements of the women of Alexander Holburn where we shared a video featuring women from different positions at the firm, including staff, management, lawyers, and students. Finally, Alexander Holburn joined the Legalign Global partner firms to create a series of daily videos highlighting leading women across our network and their achievements.
