Tarek Umedaly is an Associate and a member of the firm’s Aviation Practice Group.
His practice focuses on aviation-related disputes and regulatory matters, including passenger claims, personal injury matters, accessibility complaints, class actions, aircraft accident investigations, and other aviation-related proceedings.
Tarek joined Alexander Holburn in May 2024 as a summer student and returned as an articling student before becoming an Associate. He has broad experience representing aviation clients across multiple jurisdictions and is familiar with various dispute resolution procedures. Tarek also has experience in the fields of employment law and business disputes.
Prior to law school, Tarek studied in the Arts & Science program at McMaster University, where he completed an honours thesis in psychology and narrative cognition. While at McMaster, he developed strong proficiencies in writing, argumentation, and critical reasoning. Tarek completed his J.D. at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, achieving high standing in courses including Insurance, Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Trial Advocacy.
Before joining Alexander Holburn, Tarek worked in hospitality and as a summer cycling camp leader. These experiences helped shape the practical, detail-oriented, and client-focused approach he brings to his legal practice.
