Tarek Umedaly joined Alexander Holburn in May of 2024 as a summer student. He will be returning upon his completion of September 2025 PLTC to join the 2025/2026 Articling Cohort.
Prior to law school, Tarek studied in the Arts & Science program at McMaster University, where he completed an honours thesis in psychology and narrative cognition. While at McMaster, Tarek developed strong proficiencies in writing, argumentation, and critical reasoning. These skills undergird his rigorous approach to the law.
Tarek completed his J.D. at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where he achieved high standing in courses such as Insurance, Medical Malpractice, Evidence, and Charter Section 7. These experiences fostered wide-ranging legal interests, including in the areas of insurance, professional negligence, employment, and the Charter. While at law school, Tarek also co-managed the Queen’s Law ball hockey team.
Before joining Alexander Holburn, Tarek worked in hospitality and as a summer cycling camp leader, where he developed a client service focus that he carries with him in his legal work.
