  • 2008 Admitted to the British Columbia Bar

Manjit Grewal is a member of the firm’s Insurance, Family Law, Health Law, and Motor Vehicle Practices.

Manjit’s insurance practice is litigation focused, with an emphasis on personal injury and disability claims, as well as travel and life insurance disputes. She acts for clients in matters involving complex medical issues, coverage disputes, and the assessment of long term functional limitations. Drawing on her clinical background, she is skilled at analyzing medical records, scrutinizing expert reports, and effectively examining medical witnesses.

Before being called to the bar, Manjit worked extensively in the health care sector as a Registered Nurse and Occupational Health Nurse. She has significant experience collaborating with and advocating for a broad range of stakeholders, including physicians and other health care providers, employers, union representatives, and insurance companies. This dual background in nursing and law enables her to navigate medically complex files with precision and to communicate clearly with clients about prognosis, treatment options, and the legal implications of their medical conditions.

In her family law practice, Manjit assists clients with issues arising from separation and divorce, including parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and property division. Her years of nursing experience—supporting patients and families through stressful, often life altering events—inform a compassionate, practical approach to family disputes. She is adept at recognizing the emotional and health related dimensions of family breakdown, including the impact of mental health concerns, addiction, or chronic illness on parenting capacity and family dynamics. This background enables her to communicate effectively with children’s health care providers and other professionals, and to ensure that parenting plans and support arrangements take into account the practical realities of each family’s circumstances.

Manjit’s occupational health experience also benefits family law clients facing employment disruption, medical leave, or workplace accommodation issues arising out of separation or family violence. She understands how job loss, disability, and return to work planning intersect with support obligations and property division and works to craft resolutions that are both legally sound and practically sustainable.

Within the health law and motor vehicle practices, Manjit advises and represents clients in cases involving professional negligence, regulatory and workplace health issues, and motor vehicle accidents resulting in significant injury. Her understanding of both medical and legal frameworks allows her to develop comprehensive strategies that address liability, causation, and damages in a cohesive manner.

Manjit obtained her Diploma in Nursing in 1992, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1996, and her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in 2000. She completed her LL.B. at the University of British Columbia in 2007.

Representative Experience

Manjit has assisted senior counsel with hearings before the British Columbia Supreme Court and has appeared before British Columbia Provincial Court on a variety of matters. Manjit also has experience in mediations, settlement conferences, judicial case conferences, pre-trial conferences and applications to a judge.
