We are proud to announce that Amelia Candy is our 2025 Ernie Alexander, K.C. Memorial Scholarship Recipient!
From childhood games in the forest with fairy wings to a discovery flight in early 2024, Amelia has always dreamed of flying. After graduating high school French Immersion with honours and earning a diploma in Early Childhood Education, Amelia worked in her small island community while quietly holding on to her aviation dreams.
That dream took flight in 2024. Despite a demanding schedule, long commutes, and working multiple jobs, Amelia studied hard and earned a Private Pilot’s License in just five months. Now based in Vancouver, she is training toward a Commercial Pilot License while working at Harbour Air and continuing to support her community.
Over the past decade, Amelia has contributed hundreds of volunteer hours to organizations serving low-income families, refugees, survivors of violence, and people with disabilities. Her goal is to fly for a Canadian airline and use her career to continue giving back.
In memory of Ernie Alexander, K.C., we are proud to award this annual $2,000 scholarship to an aviation or aerospace student who demonstrates academic excellence and a strong commitment to their community.
