On October 4, 2020, Immigration Canada announced learning institutions whose COVID-19 readiness plans have been approved by their provincial or territorial government will be able to welcome more international students back to their schools. The amended travel restriction takes effect on October 20, 2020, allowing international students to enter Canada if their designated learning institution has an approved COVID-19 readiness plan in place.
List of Designated Learning Institutions with Approved COVID-19 Readiness Plan
Currently, there are 39 post-secondary institutions in British Columbia with approved COVID-19 readiness plans. In order to confirm whether or not your designated learning institution has an approved COVID-19 readiness plan in place, please click here.
The post-secondary institutions located in Lower Mainland, British Columbia with approved COVID-19 readiness plans includes the following:
- University of British Columbia.
- Simon Fraser University.
- Capilano University.
- Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
- Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
- University Canada West.
- Trinity Western University.
- British Columbia Institute of Technology.
- Langara College.
- Douglas College.
- ILSC Vancouver.
When you travel to Canada you will be required to quarantine for 14 days and to present a viable quarantine plan to the CBSA Officer at the port-of-entry (i.e. airport or land border). For the quarantine plan, you will need to include mandatory information, including the following:
- The address of where you will quarantine;
- How you will travel to the quarantine address from the port-of-entry; and
- Your arrangements in getting grocery, essential services and medical care.
Further, you will be required to monitor your health and report on your health during the 14 days quarantine period with the ArriveCAN app.
