Mary B. Hamilton and Emma J. Ferguson join our Wills, Estates + Trusts Practice

We are pleased to announce the addition of two lawyers to our firm’s Wills, Estates + Trusts Practice.

Mary B. Hamilton is a leading lawyer in the field of estates and trusts. She is highly respected by her peers, having been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada since 2006 (the inception year of that publication) and in 2011 and 2017 was selected as the B.C. Lawyer of the Year in her field.  She has also been recognized consistently by Lexpert and Who’s Who Legal: Canada for her prominence in her chosen practice area.  In 2017, Mary was a finalist in the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.  For many years she has authored the “Wills and Personal Planning Precedents Manual” which is relied upon extensively by estate lawyers throughout the province. Needless to say, we are delighted to have a lawyer of such stature join our firm. She was called to the Bar in 1987.

Emma J. Ferguson has a broad wills, estates and trusts practice. She advises clients on all aspects of estate and incapacity planning, including wills, alter ego, joint partner and family trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare representation agreements. Emma has experience assisting clients with disabilities or their family members with planning to protect government disability benefits, and advises clients on adult guardianship matters including applications to be appointed committee for an incapacitated family member. Emma also advises clients on the administration of estates, including applications for grants of probate and letters of administration.  She is a regular speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars. She was called to the Bar in 2007 after clerking with the Supreme Court of B.C.
