Anil practices primarily in the firm’s Insurance, Strata Property, and Residential Tenancy Groups, with a focus on litigation. His practice also encompasses governance, regulatory, and organizational disputes involving societies, non-profit organizations, and amateur sport organizations.
Anil has extensive experience in strata property matters and advises clients across all areas of strata law, with particular expertise in governance, bylaw enforcement, collections, litigation, human rights, and privacy issues. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, including the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Court of Appeal, as well as numerous administrative tribunals, including the Civil Resolution Tribunal, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal, and the Residential Tenancy Branch.
In addition to his strata practice, Anil represents societies and other non-profit organizations in a broad range of disputes and governance matters. His experience includes advising on director and membership disputes, the interpretation and enforcement of bylaws, document disclosure obligations, oppression claims, and compliance with the Societies Act. He also advises amateur sport organizations and leagues on governance and disciplinary matters, including the investigation, assessment, and resolution of complaints arising under organizational policies, codes of conduct, and disciplinary processes.
Anil serves as an adjudicator with the Employment and Assistance Appeals Tribunal. He is also a Visiting Professor in Simon Fraser University’s Master of Arts in Applied Legal Studies program, where he teaches Property Law.
Anil summered and articled with Alexander Holburn before joining the firm as an associate. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 2005 and his J.D. in 2015. Prior to entering the practice of law, Anil worked as a Border Services Officer with the Canada Border Services Agency, where he conducted port-of-entry examinations and assessed traveler compliance with the Customs Act, Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, Criminal Code, and other federal legislation.
