Brianne Ely is a member of the Corporate/Commercial, Information + Privacy and Intellectual Property practice groups. She has experience advising clients on both buying and selling their business, corporate reorganizations, financing, commercial agreements and website terms of use. Brianne also has experience advising businesses with respect to regulatory compliance, including but not limited to the insurance sector.

Brianne is passionate about privacy law and advises organizations on privacy compliance and data protection issues, including compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada), the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) and other provincial privacy laws applicable to the private sector.

Brianne also assists businesses to prepare privacy policies, forms of consent to collect, use and disclose personal information and contractual clauses that govern the disclosure and protection of personal information. Brianne also provides advice on cyber breach response and drafting privacy breach reports to the relevant privacy commissioners and notifications to affected individuals.

Brianne is currently completing the International Association of Privacy Professionals Certified Information and Privacy Professional certification.

Brianne is fluently bilingual and looks forward to providing legal services to her clients in both French and English.

 

On A Personal Note...

Prior to joining the firm, Brianne worked for an insurance management company, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Competition Bureau and the Correctional Service of Canada. Brianne frequently practices Brazilian jiu jitsu and enjoys exploring Canada’s backcountry in her spare time.
