Frances joined Alexander Holburn as a summer student in May 2021 and will return for articles in 2022.

Frances is interested in a broad range of litigation including insurance defense, occupiers’ liability, professional negligence, commercial host liability, and privacy disputes. Frances will be clerking at the BC Supreme Court in 2023.

At law school, Frances is Editor-in-Chief of Appeal Law Journal and has worked as both a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant. She currently volunteers as a Student Advocate for Access Pro Bono and sits on the Board of Directors for the Environmental Law Centre at the University of Victoria.

Frances has received numerous academic awards. She achieved the highest standing in Administrative Law, International Law, and Statutory Interpretation, and her awards included the Lawson Lundell LLP Prize in Administrative Law, Jim Ellis Prize in International Law, and the G. Allan Higenbottam Prize. Frances was also a nominee for the 2021 Ann Roberts Humanitarian Award.

Prior to law school, Frances completed a Bachelor of Arts at McGill University with a focus on Economics and Environmental Studies. During her undergrad, she was President of the McGill Energy Association and her research was published in Branches Environment Journal.”

On A Personal Note...

Outside of work, Frances enjoys skiing, boating and hiking. She recently trekked to Everest Base Camp. Frances can also be found gardening or creating woodwork. She is currently building a chicken coop.
