Manjit Grewal is a member of the firm’s Administrative + Public Law, Employment Law, Family Law, Health Law, and Insurance Law Practice Groups.

Manjit is a senior litigation lawyer with a clinical background as a Registered Nurse, focusing on health-related and medically complex matters.

In her family law practice, Manjit assists clients with issues arising from separation and divorce, including parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and property division. Her nursing background provides practical insight into the emotional, psychological, and health-related dimensions of family breakdown, including the impact of mental health concerns, addiction, and chronic illness on parenting capacity and family dynamics. She is experienced in working with medical and health care professionals and is able to engage effectively with clinical records, psychological assessments, and other expert evidence to ensure parenting arrangements and support outcomes reflect the realities of each family’s circumstances.

Manjit’s occupational health experience also informs her family law practice, particularly in matters involving employment disruption, medical leave, disability, or workplace accommodation arising in the context of separation or family violence. She understands the intersection between health-related work limitations, income loss, and support obligations, and works to develop practical, sustainable resolutions.

Manjit’s insurance practice is litigation-focused, with an emphasis on personal injury and disability claims, as well as travel and life insurance disputes. She acts in matters involving complex medical evidence, coverage issues, and the assessment of long-term functional impairment. She has extensive experience analyzing medical records, assessing expert reports, and examining medical and expert witnesses.

Before being called to the bar, Manjit worked extensively in the health care sector as a Registered Nurse and Occupational Health Nurse. She has experience working with physicians, health care providers, employers, unions, and insurers in clinical, occupational health, and disability management contexts. This experience, combined with her litigation practice, allows her to navigate medically complex files with precision and to communicate clearly with clients regarding prognosis, functional capacity, and the legal implications of medical evidence.

Within her insurance practice, Manjit advises and represents clients in matters involving professional negligence, regulatory and workplace health issues, and motor vehicle accidents resulting in significant injury. Her understanding of both medical and legal frameworks allows her to develop integrated strategies addressing liability, causation, and damages.

Manjit obtained her Diploma in Nursing in 1992, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1996, and her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in 2000. She completed her LL.B. at the University of British Columbia in 2007.

Representative Experience

Manjit has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and British Columbia Provincial Court on a variety of matters. Manjit also has extensive experience in contested chambers applications, mediations, settlement conferences, judicial case conferences, pre-trial conferences and applications to a judge.
