A significant part of Sunjeet’s practice involves coverage advice, strategy, and defence of coverage litigation for primary and excess insurers. His coverage work includes CGL, D&O, property, high-net-worth homeowner, excess, professional liability, and specialty policies, often in matters involving layered insurance programs, disputed indemnity exposure, suspected fraud, and significant underlying claims. He also advises insurers on coverage issues arising from class action litigation involving mining, pulp and paper, automobile manufacturers, and other industrial or manufacturing clients.
Sunjeet’s litigation practice focuses on technically complex claims, including product liability, construction defect and property damage claims, professional liability, catastrophic injury claims, class actions, and sensitive institutional liability matters. His work often involves product failures, construction and engineering issues, building envelope and water ingress claims, fire and industrial losses, and professional negligence claims against engineers, architects, design professionals, and insurance brokers. He also acts for national sporting organizations and their insurers in sensitive alleged historical abuse claims involving direct negligence, vicarious liability, and broader institutional risk.
Sunjeet is regularly involved in the mediation process for the resolution of complex claims, including assessing risk, settlement positioning, issue narrowing, and coordination between defence and coverage considerations. He helps clients assess when resolution is commercially sensible, and when a principled defence position should be maintained. His advice is designed to assist clients with exposure assessment, reserve-setting, coverage positions, settlement strategy, and broader claims-handling decisions.
Sunjeet also acts for insurers in complex subrogated recovery matters arising from fires, product failures, industrial accidents, construction defects, strata and multi-unit losses, and multi-party recovery actions. These matters often involve technical expert evidence, causation disputes, recovery strategy, and coordination among multiple parties and insurers.
Before entering legal practice, Sunjeet gained experience in the insurance industry. That experience gives him practical insight into how insurers, brokers, insureds, and risk managers assess claims, coverage, reserves, and commercial outcomes.
