Ty Maccagno is an Associate and member of the firm’s Construction, Coverage Disputes, Personal Injury, and Professional Liability Practice Groups.

Ty completed her articles at a full-service law firm in Toronto where she primarily worked on commercial litigation matters and represented large financial institutions on various insolvency and debt recovery matters. She now brings this experience to insurance, professional liability, and construction + engineering litigation.

As a law student at Western Law Ty was heavily involved in student life. Ty has a keen interest in oral advocacy: she was a finalist in the Cherniak Cup trial advocacy competition, she placed third at the Lerners Cup, Western’s largest appellate advocacy moot, and participated in the Wilson Moot where she represented Western against other law schools across Canada. In her third year of law school, Ty was co-chair of the Advocacy Committee where she planned internal moots and mentored lower year students interested in advocacy. Additionally, Ty was a caseworker at the Community Legal Services Clinic, and at Western’s Intellectual Property and Information Law Clinic.

Before pursuing a career in law, Ty obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with distinction at the University of Alberta where she majored in Marketing. Ty worked as a digital marketer for an e-commerce company.

On A Personal Note...

In her spare time Ty enjoys pilates, attending concerts, and trying new restaurants in the city with friends and family.
