As part of our 2019 12 Months of Giving initiative, Alexander Holburn supported χpey̓ Elementary School’s continuing development through the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund Adopt-a-School program. Majority of our donations were designated for χpey̓ Elementary School, while the remainder helped KidSafe BC feed the students in their program. χpey̓ Elementary School is Vancouver’s only Indigenous focus school, which has a mission to incorporate First Nations culture into the education of its Indigenous students. However, many teachers and principals express they lack the funds to properly support and teach their students. To help fill this gap, Adopt-a-School provides the necessary resources to students that are facing poverty in inner city schools.
