International Women’s Day 2021

In recognition of International Women’s Day, our Women’s Forum held many exciting initiatives to celebrate the women in our lives.

50/50 Virtual Fundraiser

Alexander Holburn partnered with Mamas for Mamas to support mothers and caregivers in crisis with a virtual 50/50 raffle fundraiser. We also matched the amount taken by the winner to increase the impact of our donation to Mamas for Mamas. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be put towards the Mamas at-risk program at the Mamas for Mamas Vancouver Branch.  Under the umbrella of this program, the Vancouver Branch has the BC Children’s Hospital Program, Sustainable Nourishment Program, and the Young Mama/Teens at Risk Program. From March 2020 to the present day, the Vancouver Branch has aided roughly 1800 families and continues to provide services daily. Click here to view the fundraiser.

Internal Virtual Event

We hosted an internal event to recognize the achievements of the women of Alexander Holburn. We shared a video interviewing women from different positions at the firm, including staff, management, lawyers, and students. As the theme this year is #ChoosetoChallenge, we learned about their biggest challenges during the pandemic, what they learned about themselves from last year, and who inspires them to be the women they are today.

Legalign Global Videos

During the week of March 8th, Alexander Holburn joined the Legalign Global partner firms to create a series of daily videos highlighting leading women across our network and their achievements. Lisa Mackie, Partner and Chair of the Women’s Forum, Laura Hanson, Partner and incoming Chair of the Women’s Forum, and Janine Kroser, COO, were featured in the videos. The videos cover a range of themes including women’s involvement in the legal profession, leading through the pandemic, remote working, supporting other women, and definition of success.
